University of Reading Medical Practice Neurodiversity Strategy
Our neurodiversity strategy is focused on enabling all those at The University of Reading Medical Practice to understand neurodiversity and for all neurodivergent people using our services to be empowered and enabled to have equal access to GP services and support.
To help us to achieve our goals, we are:
- Improving knowledge in our team so that everyone feels confident in their understanding of neurodiversity and knows what they can do to help. This involves providing training for all staff.
- Working towards making sure that neurodivergence doesn’t act as a barrier for people when they need to access our service.
- Looking at what we can do to improve the experience for our neurodivergent patients
Examples of what the practice is already doing to facilitate/improve access to services for those with neurodivergence:
- Double appointments, where appropriate.
- Fully supportive of NHS Right to Choose referrals to ASD and ADHD providers.
- Dedicated team for ADHD
- Neurodiversity passport
